Miriam Sushman
Before becoming a mosaic artist Miriam Sushman worked as a photojournalist in the USA and Israel. Her passion for mosaics was ignited while working on a mixed media table. Having learned to work with a variety of mosaic methods and materials, she has taught workshops and classes to children, teens and adults in addition to leading community projects.

COMMUNITY PROJECTS
February to May 2023. Led members of Golda Meir High School art club in a mosaic mandala project. The mosaics are now installed in the school’s skywalk.
April 2018 to March 2019. Worked with members and staff of Grand Avenue Club of Milwaukee, WI on a mosaic mural on the theme of Lake Michigan. Grand Avenue Club is a community that provides an array of opportunities for people who have experienced mental illness.
May 2017, March 2015, May 2014. Society of American Mosaic Artists annual convention’s mosaic marathons in various cities. Volunteered on murals that were donated to parks, schools and hospitals.
January to March 2015. Volunteered on mosaic murals for the Allied-Dunn’s Marsh Neighborhood in Madison, Wisconsin. The project was led by artist, Marcia Yapp.
TEACHING
August 2019 to present. Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts in Brookfield, WI. Taught mixed media mosaics to children and adults in a weeklong summer class.
January 2015 to present. Led workshops and classes for children and adults in my home studio and at synagogues, non-profit organizations, and the Nicolet Recreation Department in Glendale, WI.

May 2014 to present. Mosaic workshops at Society of American Mosaic Artists annual conventions in Houston, Philadelphia and Detroit. “Go Big! Mosaic Mural Making Workshop” A weeklong workshop at Hacienda Mosaica in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico with Laurel True. “Clay in Mosaics” at the Chicago Mosaic School with Karen Ami and staff.

HONORS
June 2019. One of four volunteers honored by Grand Avenue Club of Milwaukee at the annual Grand Event. The honor was for “sharing her passion for mosaic art with our community and a collaborative mural for all to enjoy.”
